Något väldigt ovanligt på den tiden, detta blev dock mycket populärt - och ”de norska tröjorna” blev stort internationellt mode. Marius-designen blev en norsk ikon, genom att vara det mest handstickade mönstret i Norge under de senaste 65 år. The designer Unn Søiland made history in the 50’s, designing new handknit patterns, and using wool with bright colors. That was very unusual at the time. This became popular - and ”Norwegian sweaters” became great international fashion. The Marius design later became a Norwegian icon, by being the most handknitted pattern i Norway over the last 65 years.
